BLAZE INK 6-FOOT-10, 330-POUND OFFENSIVE LINEMAN

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Blaze head coach Ernesto Purnsley announced Thursday the signing of 6-foot-10, 330-pound OL Rob Nelson.

In 2009, Nelson played in seven games with the Rio Grande Dorados of the af2.

Nelson, a native of Glendale, Ariz., played two seasons at Scottsdale Community College where he was an All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference performer in 2003 before transferring to San Diego State University.

He was a redshirt at SDSU in 2004 because of a shoulder injury and played in seven games as a back up offensive lineman in 2005.

Nelson, who is considered to be the tallest player in San Diego State history, is a third-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and he placed first at the Junior Olympics at the age of 14.

The Blaze open the 2010 season April 9 when they host the Spokane Shock. Season- and single-game tickets are now available by calling 888-99BLAZE or information can be found at www.utblaze.com.
