UTAH BLAZE SIGN THREE MORE PLAYERS

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Blaze coach Ernesto Purnsley announced the signings of three more players all of whom have professional experience in the NFL, Canadian Football League or AF2.

Wide receiver/defensive back Toure Carter, fullback/linebacker Zach East, and defensive back/linebacker Patrick Body have all inked deals with the Blaze, who open the season April 9 when they host the Spokane Shock at the E Center in West Valley City.

Carter enters his sixth season playing arena football after spending time with the Austin Wranglers, Colorado Crush and San Jose SaberCats of the AFL. He played a career-best nine games with the Wranglers where he was the team’s fourth-leading tackler with 35.5 total tackles. Carter began his AFL career with the Crush in 2004.

With the Crush, Carter had four receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown. On defense, he tallied 15.0 total tackles, including one tackle for loss. Carter (5-foot-10, 190 pounds) played collegiately as a defensive back at Division II Ashland (Ohio) University where he led the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with nine interceptions.

Prior to signing with the Blaze, East (6-1, 255) spent time with the Corpus Christi Sharks of the AF2. East played collegiately at Prairie View A&M where he was a 2008 FCS AP First-Team All-American. He was also a First-Team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference selection in 2008.

Body (6-2, 205) enters his first season with the Blaze after most recently spending time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. Prior to the CFL, Body spent time with the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals of the NFL. He played collegiately at University of Toledo.
